I am sometimes asked how strong dental crowns are. Some people have had a crown chip or break and are concerned that a new crown may not survive the brutal daily use that our teeth endure. I found a video on YouTube illustrating what a Bruxzir type crown can handle compared to a traditional crown. These crowns are fabricated using a CadCam process that mills out a zirconia block to the shape of a crown using computer design. The crown is then processed in a special porcelain furnace to achieve its final strength. The result is a strong crown that can handle being hit by a hammer. There are many types of crowns available and they all have their benefits depending on the situation but indeed this is one tough crown.
